Hero 05:15
Look at you - you can fly. The kids all cheered, Their parents caught something in their eye As you loop the loop the loop And write your name in the sky. You can fly. You survived. Walked into the tunnel, Came out the other side. All the children crowded around you, The grown ups all stood back and cried. You survived.

Over the road and far away, Beyond the pub, around the bay, Under the dripping railway bridge, The yellow street light where we first kissed. The broken slates and chimbley pots, The launderette, the row of shops. Over the road and far away, I see it now as clear as day. The haunted cry of railway engines high above. The girl on the train, the girl on the train’s the one I love. Soldier, sailor, german bight, The creaking waves, the starlit night. The sleepless mothers all at sea Calling their babies home for tea. Over the gate and up the path, The knowing look, the running bath. Under the sodium we dream, Ghosts and shadows, you and me. If I could have this time again, Sure there’s some things I would change. A little more sunshine, a little less rain, See more of our friends every now and then. Apart from that I’ll take the same again, again, again, again. Wherever you are, whatever it takes, The same regrets, the same mistakes, The years of longing from afar, The stuff that makes us who we are. Up and away and down the street, Oh this means all the world to me. The blackest night, a tiny spark! So much love it’ll break your heart.

Gatecrasher 03:54
She showed up though she wasn’t invited. She showed up though she wasn’t invited. She showed up though she wasn’t invited, The kids at the bar got overexcited. She danced all night, she didn’t let up. She danced all night, she didn’t let up. She danced all night, didn’t let up, Never got tired, never had enough. Some men tried to chat her up, she politely turned them down. Some men tried to chat her up, she politely turned them down. Some women tried to chat her up, she politely turned them down. She danced to: Motorhead, Motown, Two Tone, James Brown, Fall, Cure, Smiths, Sonic Youth, Velvet Underground. Kraftwerk, Bowie, Frankie Valli, Blondie, Pill Fangs, Goldfrapp, Fontaines DC, ELO, Status Quo, Freda Payne, Rolling Stones, Air, Sparks, Arlo Parks, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Everyone thought she was someone else’s friend. Everyone thought she was someone else’s friend. Everyone thought she was someone’s friend, Didn’t matter in the end. Everyone thought she was someone’s friend, Didn’t matter in the end. Didn’t matter in the end. Didn’t matter in the end.

Far Gone 04:00
Once upon a time ago It was Christmas Eve in a world of snow. You were kitten soft, all aglow With whispers and longing. Driving home in a frozen car We were led astray by a wayward star. Talk about so near so far. I want you. I need to Hold you in my arms and see you. Feels like we’ve been drifting way too long. Baby I want to be back in your life again, Promise me this is not the end. Whatever it was we had back then is gone, far gone. Now summer’s here and the grass is long. You can’t place it but something’s wrong, Like hearing different words to your favourite song, It throws you off balance. So you walk barefoot into town, Buy a beer and hang around But everything’s so different now.

She Is Gone 02:22
She is gone, she is gone, She put her courage on, Headed out into the sun, Now she’s gone. And you’re suspended in mid-air Like somebody stole your chair. Don’t look down, there’s nothing there. She is gone. All you can do is carry on, carry on. One day you’re up, the next you’re down. You’re tired of being thrown around. Plant your feet on solid ground and move on. But she’s everywhere you look, In magazines, in airport books. She wishes you the best of luck, Now move on. Move on. All you can do is carry on, carry on. What is wrong with you? What is wrong with her? There’s nothing wrong with you, There’s nothing wrong with her. People move on - there’s nothing to see here today. Today’s like any normal day.

The sky froze over and down it came: Black ice, freezing rain. To be outside was to be insane. You don’t recall why you were out that night But you remember the snow in your headlights, Like hurtling through galaxies of blinding white. Keep moving. Don’t look back. It was surprising to see a farm on fire On such a cold night, at such a late hour. Smoke plume rising like an awful flower. When you read about it later, it still came as a shock: The fire brigades, the taking stock. By any measure a terrible loss. Keep moving. Don’t look back.

I was a dreadful sailor. I drowned a thousand times or more. Many was the ship I failed to bring safely back to port. Some nights you just sink to the bottom, Some nights you smash on the rocks. Some nights you head straight for the iceberg. You can’t make yourself stop. I was a reckless builder, My buildings all fell down. I built you the home of your dreams, Next day it burned to the ground. Some nights you just sink to the bottom, Some nights you smash on the rocks. Some nights you head straight for the iceberg. You can’t make yourself stop. I will make you a fitful husband. I will steal your best years. I’ll bring you nothing but sorrow And a great ocean of tears. Some nights you just sink to the bottom, Some nights you smash on the rocks. Some nights you head straight for the iceberg. You can’t make yourself stop.

She gets home, washes her hair, Phones her boyfriend, says “Get over here.” And they make their own heat And they make their own light And they make their own music deep in the velvet night. They leave in the morning, Go their separate ways, Lead separate lives, have separate days. The house is empty, there’s not a sound. No radio playing. No records spinning round and round Until she gets home, washes her hair, Phones her boyfriend, says “Get over here.” And they make their own heat And they make their own light And they make their own music deep in the velvet night.

Isabel Says 06:08
Isabel says the kids are selling drugs next door. She’s got a point - nobody’s that popular. Isabel knows a lot of things that I don’t, Whether she will or whether she won’t. She says “Hush” and puts a finger on my lips. I can taste her fingertips, I can feel my heartbeat racing. “Oh hush. Everything will be okay. We’ll get through this day by day. Tomorrow’s going to be amazing.” Isabel says she wasn’t born yesterday, She saw these little twits coming from miles away. Isabel knows what she wants and what it costs, Says “We’re not dicking around with the playoffs.” She says “Hush” and puts a finger on my lips. I can taste her fingertips, I can feel my heartbeat racing. “Oh hush. Everything will be okay. We’ll get through this day by day. Tomorrow’s going to be amazing.”
